Medical Weight Loss

Medical Weight Loss/Bariatric Medicine

What is medical weight loss/bariatric medicine? Yes, of course it involves prescription medicines that speed up the weight loss process. But the foundation of a professionally-designed medical weight loss program involves intensive education, counseling and coaching that makes permanent lifestyle change possible. Dr. Ferguson is well-known in the medical community for the lectures he gives to his fellow physicians on the topic of medical weight loss, including a lecture on medical weight loss as the keynote address at the annual meeting of the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians.

Chronic Illness

Diagnosis & Treatment of Chronic Illness

A chronic illness is a long-term health condition such as anxiety, diabetes, arthritis, asthma, heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, pulmonary disease, kidney disease, depression and other health problems. Our health care professionals help monitor patient health care and treatment whether it’s with one of our own care providers or coordinating care with a medical specialist.

Physical Exams

Routine Physical Exams & Wellness Visits

We perform general medical exams, including annual physicals. Wellness checks are important to monitor blood pressure, heart rate, and to address unusual or chronic symptoms that can affect short term and long term health. Regular wellness visits can identify health conditions and symptoms that, if treated early, can prevent them from developing into more serious health problems.

Referrals

Referrals to Medical Specialists

When patients present with symptoms that require a medical specialist, our health care team can arrange referrals to medical specialists in the region. For example, a patient with a foot fracture can be referred to a local podiatrist or a patient with a heart murmur can be referred to a cardiologist.

Fractures, Sprains

Fractures, Sprains, Burns & Injuries

Mild to moderate injuries that are caused by accidents can escalate to infection or other complications if not treated correctly. Some injuries may appear minor but are actually more serious and need medical attention. We are here to treat injuries that need an expert medical examination and care. We have highly experienced health professionals ready to help with fractures, sprains, burns, and other non-life threatening injuries.

Seasonal Allergies

Allergy Diagnosis & Treatment

Symptoms of seasonal allergies range from mild to severe. The most common symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes or throat, etc. Our health care professionals can determine the cause of allergy symptoms through exams and testing.  Treatment may include medication such as over-the-counter medications such as antihistamines and nasal steroids, prescription medications, and, for more serious cases, immunotherapy (allergy shots).
